Belize Blog
Feel free to read through the blog I kept while I was away in Belize. Use the link above to access my blog on blogspot.com. University of North Carolina Wilmington's Watson School of Education encouraged us to keep a blog while we were teaching abroad. I hope you enjoy it!
My students in Belize had never experienced a hands on lesson prior to my arrival in San Pedro. Typical lessons in Belize consist of students copying silently from a chalkboard into a composition notebook. Students rarely get up from their seats. It was a memorable experience to introduce my students to group activities and projects that required collaboration. To the left you will see my students working on their roller coasters. Students explored various types of energy as part of this physics lesson. I taught this lesson to the whole Standard I grade (3rd grade) which consisted of around 100 Belizean students!
